Whether your business is located on a busy street or inside a mall, you can stand out with a professional 3D channel letter sign. Commonly available in metal and acrylic, 3D channel letters add a dramatic dimensionality to your sign design that increases its visual impact on the viewer. And though they’re called “3D channel letter signs,” this technique is not limited to just letter forms. Custom shapes can be created easily to showcase any business logo.
Channel letter signs consist of letter faces with extruded siding, that are installed directly on to a wall or on a mounting surface. The siding is aluminum, to resist rust, while the letter faces can be an opaque material, like metal, or a more transparent material, like acrylic.
One of the great things about 3D channel letters is that you can play with the colours and illumination. It all depends on the look you’re going for. Do you want light to pass through? The letter faces can be one colour and the siding of the letters, known as returns, can be another. LEDs can be used to light acrylic letter-faces or to create a “halo” effect with back-lighting. Or both! And in some cases, there are no letter faces at all. Under these circumstances, special weather-resistant LED strip lighting can be left exposed. The result is a more vibrant light, as there is nothing to baffle it.
What’s more, the amount of letter extrusion is up to you, so long as any illumination you choose has enough room to fit inside. As you’d expect, less extrusion is a subtler look. In comparison, more extrusion will be more eye-catching. With the amount of looks that can be achieved via customization, it’s easy to see why 3D channel letter signs are such a popular option for businesses.
