Construction Signs

Don’t think of your construction site as a temporary blemish – treat it as an opportunity to get creative with your advertising! Because construction hoarding and signs are only meant to be used for a short time, they are perfect for out-of-the-box sign ideas. Aim for generating interest well in advance of opening day. Use placards to show renderings of the finished store or its products. Let passers-by know the grand opening details. Or, advertise a contest that they can participate in on social media. Just because it’s a work site, doesn’t mean you can’t have some fun!

Because construction signs are such a broad category, it can include vinyl fence banners, warning signs, pylon and monument signs, construction hoarding and window graphics. What unites these signs is their multi-purpose nature. Yes, they build buzz about a new building project. However, they also protect the public from a worksite by acting as a safety barrier or giving clear warnings. Construction hoarding, for example, often takes the form of solid plywood walls. It keeps blowing debris off the sidewalk and shields pedestrians from unappealing jobsites.

If your construction hoarding is a blank wall, it can be a tempting target of vandalism. To discourage this behavior, incorporate clever imagery or informative messaging into your hoarding. Some elements to keep in mind, to capitalize on your construction signs, include: investing in 3D renders of the interior and exterior of your building project, providing pricing, amenity and opening date information, and incorporating text marketing or QR codes for easy information delivery.

Will anticipation be greater if you cloak everything or would it be better to design some strategically placed viewing spots into your hoarding? Should your message be mysterious or informative? In many cases, construction signs will serve as your building or business’ first impression. Before throwing up some plywood walls, think about how you can best use construction signs to your benefit.
